Working parties are held on our various projects and we are always pleased to welcome new helpers.
Much of the work is unskilled, however, skilled engineers and carpenters are especially welcome, so if you would like to come along and help we will be most pleased to see you. If you intend to join us for the first occasion please contact us a few days beforehand by e-mail at this link. If you would just like to come along and meet us for a chat to see if 'our work is your kind of work' then please feel free to do so.
If you would like to help financially please see Donations
Locomotive work will take place as required to maintain the 5542 in fully operational condition .
Please use the link above to contact us for dates and locations of any planned working parties The work is generally 'dirty' so you will need to come prepared with overalls and appropriate footwear, it may take place outdoors if work is required at short notice.
Work on Autotrailer 169 normally takes place on Saturdays and Wednesdays at the WSR Restoration workshops at Williton from about 10am until 5pm.
Currently this is our main project with regular work which generally takes place at Williton, however there are smaller items that are suitable for the home workshop or garage restoration/construction. Work is generally of a 'cleaner' nature than that on the loco, although work on the underframes of the carriage is now also underway. Please contact us before travelling long distances to work, in case last minute changes to arrangements have occurred.
Ex BR Brake Second K(c)ompartment carriage 34991 is our latest acquisition which is also located at Buckfastleigh for contract work fitting vacuum brakes, however if more modern coaching stock is your forte then the 4 compartments that have previously been converted for use as a Main Line support coach for Clan Line, need to be returned to passenger use with seating refitted and reupholstered and windows reglazed.
Steam heating also needs to be fitted in each compartment. Some minor bodywork repairs are needed along with general tidying up of the interior.
There are always vacancies for anyone interested in Fund Raising or Publicity, of course!
Why not join us one day for a chat and cup of tea and see what we are all about?
